The Oxfordshire School Inclusion Team deliver a variety of training courses throughout the year, taking into account key changes and the latest research.

Below are some of the courses provided by the Inclusion team. Bespoke training is also available to schools. Maximizing the performance of Teaching Assistants, Write Away Together training, Hi Five and FFT training can be booked by individual schools or groups of schools on dates to suit you through-out the year.

Getting it right from the start – School   SENCOS – What you need to know about diminishing difference in EYFS

This course is designed for   primary school SENCOs. We will be exploring teaching and learning in Early   Years and how the inclusion of pupils with SEN can be managed within school   EY settings. We will be looking at the tracking of development, funding   issues, early identification and effective support of learning needs.

FFT READING PROGRAMME

A   highly effective and well evaluated reading programme aimed at KS1 also very   successful in KS2 and KS3.  The   programme is delivered by TAs, but is monitored and supported by a teacher;   therefore a teacher and TA must attend   both days of the course.

PUPIL   PREMIUM – LEADING ON DIMINISHING THE DIFFERENCE

This course is designed for   pupil premium leads and school leaders with responsibility for leading on   this area of provision. We will examine and evaluate effective strategies,   with reference to the latest research and best practice. The course will also   consider planning provision, monitoring and tracking to create an audit   trail, evaluation and reporting. Supported time for planning how to apply the   learning in your context will be allocated in the afternoon session.

WRITE   AWAY TOGETHER (WAT)

This intervention   programme, produced by FFT, uses enhanced Assessment for Learning to work   with individuals and small groups to improve their writing.   The programme can be used to support   pupils at any key stage, from those that are just beginning to write a couple   of sentences through to extending the skills of more gifted writers.  We recommend that TAs experienced in   delivering literacy interventions are chosen for this course, and that they   attend with the teacher who will be supporting the programme.

HI-FIVE

Aimed at pupils at Level 2   in English in KS2 and KS3, this highly effective programme from the FFT   supports the development of both reading and writing skills.  A teacher and a TA must attend the   training.  The accompanying file   includes all the books and lesson plans needed to run the programme.
